This is a Burmese orchestra drum circle (hsaing-waing) dating from the late Konbbaung Duration (1752-1885), the last dynasty of the Burmese kings. Made from teak timber overlaid with alleviation molded lacquer in a technique called thayo then covered with gold leaf and highlighted with inlaid glass. This piece is 52 inches in dimension and makes a remarkable large coffee table with glass on top. I acquired this piece and lots of other Oriental antiques on my moves in South East Asia over Twenty Years ago. If you would certainly like even more information on this item or would certainly such as to view additional Eastern antiques kindly get in touch with me.
