This is a well used pair of initial WW2 A-3 Sheepskin flying pants utilized by United States bombing plane crew. They are size 40R. Made by the Aero Natural leather Clothes Business from New York State in the late 1930's. There is a split on the front, and two on the behind. Several of the zippers need but work to be re-zipped/replaced as the teeth have actually parted gradually and I do not wish to require them apart. There is a huge horsehide map pocket on each leg of the pants from regarding the knee down. The original two-tone suspenders are in wonderful form and completely flexible. These trousers smell tidy and like sheepskin and horsehide.

The inside tag reads:.

KIND A-3.
DWG. NO. 33H5502.
A.C. ORDER NO. 42-22899-5.
HOME.
FLYING FORCE, UNITED STATE ARMY.
AERO LEATHER-MADE CLO. CO
. SIGN, N.Y. 40R.

Note: The Type A/B -3 was standardized on May 29th 1933. The pants were in fact ordered by the Military Air Force along with the renowned B-3 jacket, as a suit, not as a separate product; for every single B-3 coat that was made, there was particular pair of A-3 pants. They were created to be worn with the B-3 in incredibly low temperature levels. Made from excellent quality N. American sheepskin cut with Russet Brown Horsehide, 1 1/2 "webbing suspenders (which have white undersurface), and hefty zippers. The B-3 was stopped by the USAAF on the 23rd of May 1943.
