1989 Ferrari Testarossa Ferrari stirred up controversy in 1984 when it celebrated the launch of its latest twelve cylinder flagship the Ferrari Testarossa at the Paris Show at Porte de Versailles. The no-apologies body by Pininfarina was angular, massively wide and graced with the most outrageous set of air intakes (side strakes sometimes referred to as cheese graters) unlike anything seen before. Some 7,177 Testarossas were produced in total between 1984 and 1991 with the twin mirror cars now being considered the most collectible. The new 4.9 liter horizontally opposed twelve cyl engine featured 2 banks of 6 horizontally-opposed cylinders and 48 valves with Bosch's latest K-Jetronic fuel injection delivering 380 horsepower which could propel the Testarossa to a top speed of just over 180 mph and 0 -60 mph in 5.2 seconds. The Testarossa was designed from day 1 to provide refined enjoyment on the highway, rather than as a track car dumbed down for the street. The luxurious all leather tan cockpit features bucket seating, tilt steering column, rear window defogger, electric windows, Ferrari logo floormats, a-c, and a reasonable amount of luggage space in the front trunk and behind the seats.
