Shell Chemicals is currently seeking a Senior Project Manager for our Calgary, AB location.
Responsibilities:
The Shell Projects and Technology (P&T) organization is the technical powerhouse supporting the Shell Group to become the most innovative and competitive Energy company in the world. The Downstream & Midstream Gas Projects group is accountable for project development and delivery of individual large projects across all Downstream Classes of Business and the rapidly growing Midstream Gas Portfolio.
The group is currently in front end development of a number of multi-billion dollar Gas Monetization opportunities in North America. The projects, located in the USA and Canada, fit within Shell?s strategy to responsibly meet global energy demand by tapping abundant natural gas reserves.
We are looking for highly motivated senior project managers with relevant large project experience that exhibits the right behaviors to join our dynamic team of professionals in developing and executing the growing portfolio of Downstream and Midstream Gas Projects in the Americas. The Senior Project Manager role will manage the project engineering activities for one of the Gas Monetization projects with the expectation to deliver the project definition and execution phases of the project while meeting Top Quartile benchmarking and delivery performance.
The Senior Project Manager/ Project Director is accountable for:
Single point Project leadership during the front-end of (part of) the multi-billion USD project
Project Execution Plans
Project support and technical input for all issues relating to the delivery of the facilities across the front-end Engineering cycle
Project Engineering support to the contractors engaged in the project.
Development of competitive cost estimate and schedule
Achieve best-practical front-end-loading and top-quartile benchmarking scores
Single point Project leadership during project execution of a significant scope package of the project
Deliver the project scope safely and be a role-model for process and personal safety
Deliver on promises with respect to cost,schedule and quality/capacity
Project Engineering support to the contractors engaged in the project.
Ensure flawless project delivery leading to a safe leak-free start-up of the plant
Lead a highly motivated Team that repeatedly beats expectations.
Continuous improvement by leveraging best practices and lessons learned.
Development of assigned Staff, Competency Assessment and Training & Development Plans.
Requirements:
Key dimensions of the Role:
Your core skills will be in the areas of Project Definition, Project Execution, Project Execution Planning and Team Leadership.
Project size: multi-billion USD.
Project scope includes world scale process units.
The successful candidate will be required to interface with project team members and technical experts that operate in a global context.
Some business travel will be required. The initial location will be Calgary, AB; however, flexibility to move/work in alternative locations will be required as determined by the execution strategy and project phase requirements.
The position is expected to move to the Resident Engineering Team during Front End Engineering Design.
Ultimate location will be at site (USA or Canada) for the construction and commissioning phases of the project.
Qualifications:
Must have legal authorization to work in Canada on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.
A degree in Engineering (at least BS)
Minimum 20 years relevant project work experience in the Onshore oil, Petrochemical or Gas industry.
Experience of Leading a Project Team in Front End Development, Detailed Engineering and Construction of complex large projects.
Experience as single responsible Project Manager/Project Director for multi-billion USD projects is a clear differentiator.
Experience with working in large multi-location project teams.
Strong team player with good communications and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated visible and felt HSSE leadership.
